Goalstacker.com is a time management application that keeps users from getting overwhelmed by endless to-do lists that they do not have time to complete. It achieves this by marrying the to-do list to the amount of time that a user might have to complete items on the to-do list. Users assign a time marker to each task. Users can then assign each task to their day manually, though this defeats the purpose of the app. Users who use the green slider bar to indicate how much time they have available each day (say, after routine tasks like work or school are completed) are going to get more mileage out of this app, as it will pick out a list of tasks that the user has time to complete that day. The user can get daily e-mail updates on these tasks and can use these lists to get more done.Show more screenshots »
Goal Stacker was created by the 31 Pixels company in 2011. It does not seem to have gathered many followers on either Facebook or Twitter, and there’s been next to no coverage on the app in the internet community.
The main thing that sets Goal Stacker apart from other project management apps is the focus on time, and being realistic about how much time the user has. However, there are some flaws. Goal Stacker doesn’t offer a system for setting task deadlines, which can be extremely important in prioritizing tasks and which can be more important than the amount of time a user has. The e-mailed to-do lists are a nice touch, and are another feature that make Goal Stacker original.
The app has a very clean, intuitive look and feel. There’s not much to learn or master as it is all very straightforward. The Goal Stacker timing application is a nice touch. Since so much with Goal Stacker relies on time it is good that the app includes a way to actually track how long tasks actually take, which will help users make more accurate plans in the future.
Account set-up is free and easy. Users are asked to provide an e-mail address, first name, last name, and password.
There are four project plan levels for Goal Stacker. The free version allows users to access 1 project and offers 5 mb of storage. For $2.99 per month users can add 3 projects and can enjoy 500 mb of storage. For $3.99 a month, users can add up to 10 projects and can get up to 2 GB of storage. Users who are willing to pay $4.99 per month get unlimited projects and unlimited storage. All paid plans offer unlimited tasks and collaboration potential.
Users who need a way to manage their time better are going to really enjoy what Goal Stacker has to offer. This is not, however, a good business application as deadlines are not included. Even the tutorial videos are attuned more towards domestic tasks like buying shoes, putting snow tires on the car, and getting the laundry done.
